As per defense reports, three unidentified militants and a policeman were killed in two separate encounters in Budgam and Shopian districts of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Friday. As per officials, Security forces had launched a cordon and search operation in Zanigam village in the Beerwah area of Budgam district following information about the presence of militants there.
They said the search operation turned into an encounter after militants opened fire towards security forces’ positions. Two policemen were injured in the gunbattle. They were rushed to a hospital here for treatment but one of them succumbed, the officials said.

According to Vijay Kumar (IGP Kashmir), Terrorists were affiliated with Al-Badr and were local militants. Two AK 47 Rifles and a pistol were recovered from them. In another encounter at Badigam in Shopian district, three militants were killed by security forces, they said. The officials said the identity and group affiliation of the slain ultras are being ascertained.

Adding to this IGP said, "We'd received info last night that a foreign terrorist, Yusuf - LeT Commander & another militant are holed up in a house. We launched a cordon with Army's help. CRPF reached too. In the morning we came to know that they escaped but are injured"
He also added, "We brought in a dog squad, their (terrorists') blood trail led us to a village 2 km away. We have cordoned it, a search is underway" signaling that search is still going for additional terrorists.
