Military Coup in Myanmar: State Counsellor Suu Kyi and President Myint sent to two weeks' remand

Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi and President U Win Myint being charged by Myanmar import-export act and illegal gathering act during the covid 19 outbreak by the new military government on Wednesday. Both the leaders are said to be remanded for two weeks till 15 February 2020 until further court actions.

According to an expert familiar with the development in Naypyidaw, charges have been imposed against the civilian leaders for keeping walkie-talkies and making handshakes with people.

After the military take-over in Myanmar, several global leaders have condemned the military coup and have released statements in strong words against those involved in seizing power by replacing the democratic govt. in Myanmar for one year.

A meeting in the United Nations also called by the members and discussing the matter determined that the military takeover in Myanmar constituted a coup which would bring more consequences for the Myanmar military.

Earlier, on 31st January Myanmar Army Chief Min Aung Hlaing seized power in Myanmar. The army stated that it had carried out the detentions in response to "election fraud", handing power to military chief Min Aung Hlaing and imposing a state of emergency for one year,
