International Yoga Day 2020: International Yoga Day is celebrated every year on 21 June. International Yoga Day was celebrated for the first time in the year 2015. The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi made his speech in the United Nations General Assembly on 27 September 2014. After this, in 2014, the United Nations approved the proposal to celebrate June 21 as International Yoga Day. Prime Minister Modi will be addressing the nation on the occasion of International Yoga Day on June 21 at 7 am.

International Yoga Day 2020 Theme

This year with the COVID-19 pandemic still very much present, there will be virtual celebrations throughout the day. Therefore, the chosen theme, "Yoga at home and Yoga with the family", is very suitable for him. Since 2015, the day is celebrated annually worldwide on June 21 to raise awareness about the health benefits of yoga and its various practices. Its objective is also to educate people about the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits that one can obtain by practicing it. PM Modi had proposed the date June 21, as it is the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere and shares special importance in many parts of the world.
