Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh Transferred, Hemant Nagrale appointed as new DGP

Param Bir Singh had previously served as the Director-General (DG) of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and the Police Commissioner of Thane. Now he has been replaced by Hemant Nagrale as the new Director-General of Police (DGP).

According to recent reports, After being tagged with alleged connection with Sub-Inspector Sachin Waze’s involvement in placing an explosives-laden vehicle near Mukesh Ambani’s residence in the city, DGP of Maharashtra Police Param Bir Singh has been transferred and posted as DG Home Guard. 

Hemant Nagrale has been appointed as the new Director-General of Maharashtra Police by the Maharashtra Government. The 1988-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Param Bir Singh had taken over from IPS officer Sanjay Barve on February 29, 2020.

Param Bir Singh, recently, also made news as he led the investigation in the alleged TRP scam, where households were apparently asked to keep channels switched on the entire day. 

At least five news and entertainment channels were found allegedly involved in rigging the Television Rating Points (TRP) to attract more advertisements.

 

This comes 6 hours after Bir Singh met Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray against the backdrop of the arrest of city police officer Sachin Waze by the NIA over its probe into the recovery of an explosives-laden SUV near industrialist Mukesh Ambani's house
