NEET-PG Counselling 2021-22: Health Minister has assured us that the NEET-PG counseling will start before Jan 06, 2022, said Indian Medical Association (IMA) President Sahajanand Prasad Singh on NEET PG Counselling dates. According to the news agency ANI, during the meeting with Union Health Minister and Delhi Police officials, all demands were accepted by the central government. Following which IMA has been given an assurance of withdrawal of FIRs against the resident doctors and an announcement regarding the counseling dates by January 06.

The development comes as a contradiction to the Union Health Minister's statement in which he said that the government is not able to do the counseling now as the case is pending the Supreme Court.

It should be noted that the NEET-PG counseling has been delayed for almost a year and the issue is pending in the Supreme Court. Although, its hearing is scheduled for January 06, 2022.

"A delegation has led by National President, IMA, Dr. Sahajanand Prasad Singh alognwith Office bearers met with Union Health & Family Welfare Minister Shri Mashukh Mandaviya on December 30, 2021, to resolve the issue of delayed admission into the PG Medical Courses. IMA expressed its anguish on police action on the peaceful demand of Doctors for their cause. Thousands of young doctors are waiting for over a year to enter into the PG Medical Courses which were delayed due to the Covid pandemic.

In the present scenario, when 3rd wave of COVID is raising its head with the Omicron variant, it is all the more important to enhance the existing Medical manpower in different hospitals.

It is unfortunate that resident doctors are forced to go on strike in spite of their significant contribution during the COVID pandemic even while preparing for NEET PG Exam. We are hopeful that with the assurance given by the Hon'ble Union Health Minister, the above issue will be resolved soon" the letter reads.

On Friday, following meetings with Union Health Minister and Delhi Police officials, the protesting doctors decided to call off their agitation. The agitation was being carried out by thousands of resident doctors from Safdarjung, GB Pant, AIIMS, and other leading Delhi hospitals.
