PM Modi Lauds Ayushman Bharat beneficiaries, interacts with 1 croreth beneficiary

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the number of people benefiting from the Ayushman Bharat scheme has crossed 1 crore. He said that this initiative had a positive impact on the lives of many people. In September 2018, Modi launched the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana - Ayushman Bharat. It has been called the largest government-sponsored healthcare scheme in the world.

Over one crore treatments worth Rs 13412 crore were provided under Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme since its launch in September 2018. The Prime Minister wrote on Twitter that 'It would make every Indian proud that the number of Ayushman Bharat beneficiaries has crossed 1 crore. In less than two years, this initiative has had a positive impact on so many lives. I congratulate all the beneficiaries and their families. I also pray for their good health'.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Said that 'I appreciate our doctors, nurses, healthcare workers and all others associated with Ayushman Bharat. Their efforts have made it the largest healthcare programme in the world. This initiative has won the trust of several Indians, especially the poor and downtrodden.'

He also said 'During my official tours, I would interact with Ayushman Bharat beneficiaries. Sadly, that is not possible these days but I did have a great telephone interaction with Pooja Thapa from Meghalaya, the 1 croreth beneficiary. Here is what we discussed.'

He also Added 'One of the biggest benefits of Ayushman Bharat is portability. Beneficiaries can get top quality and affordable medical care not only where they registered but also in other parts of India. This helps those who work away from home or registered at a place where they don’t belong.'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that this initiative has won the trust of many Indians, especially the poor and Dalits. He said that one of the biggest advantages of Ayushman India is portability. He said that beneficiaries can get high quality and affordable medical care not only in where they are registered, but also in other parts of India. It helps those who work away from home or are registered in a place where they are not.

The Prime Minister shared an audio clip of the conversation in which Thapa, the wife of a soldier, tells about the surgery in Shillong using the Ayushman Bharat facility. Her husband is posted in Manipur and is not with her due to Corona virus lockdown. Her two young children are being looked after by neighbors.
