Maharashtra: A major encounter erupts between Maoists and Security forces in Gadchiroli

According to the sources, a major encounter erupted between Maoists and C-60 Commandos in Etapalli of Gadchiroli district in Maharashtra. As many as 100 to 150 men are feared caught in an ambush in the Gadchiroli district. Additional forces have also been sent to the Gadchiroli district in Maharashtra. C-60 crack commandos have been tasked to countering Naxals in the Etapalli.

As far as the developments are concerned, Maoists launched a planned attack on a gathering of more than 250 personnel. According to a report published in HT, elite Commandos are reportedly injured in the landmine attack. "The Maoists, who were camping there for a meeting, triggered a landmine explosion, in which at least one commando was injured", report added.

It is also reported that to counter the ambush launched by the Maoists against the C60 Commandos, help has also been sought from the Indian Air Force.
