On Saturday, Delhi Cabinet approved the formation of the Delhi Board of School Education. "In today's cabinet meet, we have been approved to the constitution of Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE)," said Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. The establishment of 'Delhi Board of School Education' will bring revolutionary changes in the education system of Delhi to new heights, Delhi CM added.
Taking to his micro-blogging site Twitter, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal informed about getting approval for constituting the Delhi Board of School Education. Why we needed the formation of this board, Arvind Kejriwal said,
"The country is watching the revolutionary changes in the Delhi education system. In the last six years, we began with allotting 25 percent of Delhi's Budget to Education. This decision led to the formation of new school buildings, classrooms, and labs, auditoriums and swimming-pools. The structure of Government schools which was being considered inferior has changed after we started spending 25 percent of the annual budget", said Delhi Chief Minister in his message.
The second step we have taken is that we started training teachers and principals used Cambridge, America, Singapore, Finland, Canada, IIM Lucknow, and IIM Ahmedabad and we also started sending our students to foreign countries.
The third decision that we took was to empower Principals. We handed over the power of staff's recruitment to the Principals by increasing the spendings from 5k to 50k. If any agency fails to hire staff before the commencement of a session, the Principals have the authority to hire on his/her behalf for one semester so that studies of the students' do not suffer. We have also hired estate managers over each school", he added.
To bring revolutionary changes we introduced the 'Mission Chunauti' and 'Mission Buniyaad' to help the students learn the basics. We also introduced the 'happiness curriculum' to help students learn interpersonal relations. These efforts have led to the 98 percent results in Delhi Government Schools.
Now it's time to take another step forward and for this, we are going to bring the Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE). The board will be set-up to fulfill three key goals, firstly it will enable the feeling of nationalism within the students, secondly, it will help students to become good human beings irrespective of caste, religion, and class, and thirdly it will help in producing skilled and employable students.
Delhi Board of School Education to help us on three aspects-
1) Our students to be patriotic in all terms and our education will help them in-build.
2) To be humanistic towards the betterment of society. Either they are of any community or religion.
3) To make them employable and skilled. The focus will be given to understand rather than cramming. We have brought this up after studying international practices. It will consist of high-end techniques to teach them and to assess their learnings.
Affiliation to Delhi Board of School Education:
There are around 1,000 government schools and 1,700 private schools in Delhi. All government schools and most of the private schools are affiliated with the CBSE board. For the current academic session 2021-22, we will try to include 20 to 25 schools in this board. Their CBSE affiliation will be scrapped and they'll be brought under the affiliation of the Delhi Board of School Education", said Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.
Schools will be selected after discussion with principals, teachers, and parents. We hope that all schools will voluntarily get affiliated to this board (Delhi Board of School Education) within 4-5 years. There will be a governing body and other stakeholders comprising of the Education Minister and Bureaucrats," said Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal
