Today, India recorded 1.67 lakh new Covid cases in the last 24 hours, a 20% decrease from yesterday's figure of 2.09 lakh, bringing the country's total infection tally to 4,14,69,499. The Covid positivity rate fell from 15.7 to 11.6 percent, while the weekly positivity rate was 15.25 percent. The active caseload in India is now 17.43 lakh cases.

According to the Health Ministry, as many as 1,733 people have died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, a number that is greater than the previous day's as Kerala added 638 fatalities to its backlog.

As per the latest update, 166.03 crore vaccine doses have been provided in the ongoing Coronavirus vaccination drive across the country. Over 75% of the adult population in the country is now completely immunized against potential COVID-19 threat.

A sub-variant of the extremely dangerous Omicron coronavirus strain, which some studies suggest may be even more infectious than the original strain, has been found in 57 nations, according to the World Health Organization on Tuesday.
