Centre to give more preference to Female NCC cadets in employment, says Defense Minister Rajnath Singh

Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said that Prime Minister has decided to expand National Cadet Corps (NCC). The main focus of the NDA government will be to increase the total number of women cadets serving in NCC.

Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday Said,” Prime Minister has decided to expand National Cadet Corps (NCC). There should be the training of Cadets at the border & coastal areas. We have identified more than 1,100 schools to begin NCC training”. There has been a substantial rise in the total number of female cadets serving in NCC over recent years.

There were 28% girl cadets in NCC. Now, it has increased to approximately 43%. This is one of the major steps taken by the Centre in its continuous resolve towards India's women empowerment. The government has also decided to give preference to the NCC cadets in employment as stated by the current defense minister.

The National Cadet Corps is the youth wing of the Armed Forces which offers students of various schools and colleges to serve on a voluntary basis. The total strength of NCC cadets in the country currently stands at somewhere around 1.5 Million personnel.
