CDS General Bipin Rawat to fly in a French Rafale fighter, in Jodhpur

Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat will be taking a sortie in FASF Rafale fighter aircraft to check its operational capabilities. According to various defense officials including former Air Chief BS Dhanoa, Rafale is regarded as the most advanced fighter jet in the entire south Asian region.

In midst of the ongoing ‘Ex-Desert 21’ Joint air exercise between IAF and FASF in Jodhpur, CDS Bipin Rawat will be taking sortie in a Rafale Fighter Jet. General Rawat was sworn in as the first Chief of Defence Staff on 1 January 2020.

Apart from the operational briefing, CDS will take a sortie in FASF Rafale fighter for almost an hour to assess the operational capability of the most advanced fighter jet in the inventory of both FASF and IAF.

Rafale is a dual seater, omnirole 4.5 generation fighter aircraft which is designed & manufactured by  Dassault Aviation. India placed an order for 36 fighter jets in 2016 out of which 8 have been received till now and 28 are still in pipeline.
