Top Gun Maverick Opening Weekend Collection: According to industry sources, Tom Cruise's new film Top Gun: Maverick could have the largest opening of his career. Despite his celebrity status, Tom has never had a movie generate more than USD 100 million in its first weekend. According to reports, Maverick may change that. According to some estimations, the aviation blockbuster might gross USD 125 million in its first weekend in the United States alone.

According to official tracking, Top Gun 2 is on course to be the largest domestic opening of Tom Cruise's career, with a four-day gross of at least USD 92 million. And that's an optimistic estimate. Many analysts anticipate the critically praised sequel will gross well over USD 100 million in the United States, but tracking — one of Hollywood's favorite games — has become dangerous in the post-pandemic world. Exhibitors are particularly enthusiastic about the film, estimating that it could earn USD 125 million or more.

The highest-grossing Tom Cruise film to date has been War of the Worlds, which grossed USD 64.9 million in 2005. Even Mission Impossible: Fallout, his highest-grossing film with USD 787 million, had a modest USD 61 million opening in 2012. But Maverick's advantage is that it launches on Thursday in numerous regions throughout the world. If the USD 125 million estimate holds true, Maverick will have the year's third-best opening weekend.

Such high openings are normally reserved for superhero movies, which is why industry insiders are skeptical of these predictions. Only DC's The Batman, with USD 134 million, and Marvel Studios' Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, with USD 187 million, have debuted that high or higher this year.

Tom's 1986 smash Top Gun is followed by Top Gun: Maverick. On a USD 15 million budget, the picture was significantly responsible for establishing him as a bankable star, grossing USD 357 million. He reprises his role as Naval aviator Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell in Maverick. Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, and Lewis Pullman feature in Joseph Kosinski's picture. Val Kilmer, who played a supporting part in the first film, is also back. The film will be released on May 27th.
