UPSC Civil Service Exam 2020: Commission may ask Covid negative report at examination centre

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is looking to make Covid-19 test mandatory for the students appearing in Civil Services Examination 2020. In Civil Services Exam 2020 (Preliminary) and Indian Forest Services (Preliminary) Examination 2020, Commission may ask students to come up with Covid-19 negative report, for the safety of students. At the examination centre students may be asked to bring repot at the exam centre along with Hall Ticket & Identity card, an official says.

The Coronavirus report of the candidates should be negative for appearing in UPSC Civil Service 2020 preliminary exam scheduled on 4 October, 2020 (Sunday). According to the media report, the Union Public Service Commission is scratching the option to make Covid19 test negative report mandatory to students participating in the UPSC Civil Service/ Forest Services Preliminary examination. Commission is also looking for the same for other examinations under Union Public Service Commission.

A large number of candidates to appear in the UPSC Civil Service Examination 2020 scheduled on October 4. Taking safety measures, reports suggests that UPSC would require Covid19 test negative report of all students taking the examination. “Only Covid19 negative candidates to be allowed to take part in CSE 2020 and FSE 2020 Preliminary examination. Commission is looking to make the report mandatory to avoid infection”, a report says. However, the official decision is still being awaited from the side of UPSC.

At the same time, students preparing for Civil Services/ Forest Services examinations are opposing the decision and launched an online campaign on social media. Students saying that for the Covid test they will have to pay Rs 2500 and many students who are preparing for this examination come from financially weaker section, in such a situation it will be difficult to arrange the necessary cost for the Covid19 test.

UPSC has re-scheduled the Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2020 and the Indian Forest Service (Preliminary) Examination to October 4, 2020. Earlier the examination was proposed on May 31, 2020 which later postponed. Reviewing the situation after Covid19 pandemic, the Union Public Service Commission revised the examination dates for Civil Services Preliminary Examination on 04 October 2020.
