Indian Railways invited the applications against over one lakh vacancies of Group D in Indian Railways in the year 2019. After two years of the release of centralized employment notification, Indian Railways shall likely be conducting the stage 1 exam for recruitment of various Group D posts in Level 1 of 7th CPC Pay matrix, from April 2021 onwards. Over 1 crore applications have been received by the Railways against 'Group D' posts.
According to the media reports, the first stage Computer Based Test for the Railway Group D vacancies shall commence in April 2021, as it has been announced by the then CEO of the Indian Railways, Vinod Kumar Yadav.
In an official statement first CEO of the Indian Railways, VK Yadav said that the Indian Railways will be conducting the pending Railway exams for over 1 lakh vacancies from mid of December 2020. In addition to his statement in another video message, Yadav said that the examination of NTPC to be held from December 2020 to March 2021 and Group D (Level 1) posts from April to June 2021. However, official notice on RRC 'Group D' exam dates is yet to be out.
According to the official notice, the first stage examination for Group D posts to be conducted on the computer screen. Over 1 crore candidates who have applied for the RRC CEN 01/2019 'Group D' recruitment are expected to participate in the examination. It is also expected that like Railway's NTPC examination the Group D exam also be conducted in multiple phases as the number of applications is comparatively higher than NTPC. Though the official intimation regarding the Group D exam 2021 schedule is yet to be out but, expected shortly.
Indian Railways had invited online applications against the 1,03,769 vacancies against Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) Centralized Employment Notification 01/2019 (Level-I) for Group D posts including Assistant Pointsman, Assistant Bridge, and Track Maintainer Gr-IV in participating Railway Recruitment Boards and Railway Units across the country.
According to several media reports, RRC CEN 1/2019 Group D Stage 1 Exam will be conducted in Computer-based mode. The exam shall be conducted in April to June 2021. However, Railway Administration reserves the right to conduct the CBT in either single or multi-stage mode. Candidates qualifying in the CBT shall have to undergo a Physical Efficiency Test (PET).
