Punjab CM writes to Education Minister to postpone Class X and XII Board Exams 2021

In view of the current situation due to Covid-19, Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amrinder Singh on Wednesday wrote a letter to the Union Education Minister Dr. Pokhriyal urging him to postpone the board exams 2021.

After Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amrinder Singh demanded the CBSE and ICSE boards to postpone the class 10th and 12th board exams. Citing the surge in Covid-19 cases all across the country, Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amrinder Singh on Wednesday sought postponement of Board exams for Classes 10th and 12th.

To remove the uncertainty among the students, Punjab CM Arvind Kejriwal reached out to the Union Education Minister. The Chief Minister has written to the Union Education Minister Dr. Ramesh Nishank Pokhriyal over the issue and stressed that postponing the board exams would only be a feasible option at present.

"Have written to Union Education Minister @DrRPNishank seeking postponement of CBSE and ICSE Board examinations in view of the surge of #Covid19 cases in the country. Request the Government of India for an early decision in this regard.", Chief Minister Capt. Amrinder Singh tweeted on Wednesday.

Students all across the country are protesting against the decision to conduct CBSE Board exams in May 2021 due to a surge in Coronavirus cases in India. Lacs of students has lodged their protest on social media demanding their board exams be cancelled or postponed.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Modi has also called on a meeting to discuss the future course of action on Board exams 2021. Education Minister Dr. Ramesh Nishank Pokhriyal, CBSE Chairman among other officials will attend the meeting. According to the Govt sources, it is expected that a decision on CBSE board exams shall be taken in the meeting.
