Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Nageshwar Rao on Wednesday wrote a letter to the learners of the University. Conveying the good wishes to the students for their health and safety Professor Rao outlined various steps and decisions being taken by the University to tackle Covid-19 pandemic. He reckoned decisions including conduct of online classes, facilitating e-study material and term end exams. He also asked learners to not fall pray about rumours and keep visiting the IGNOU website ignou.ac.in about the term end exams, that have been postponed for now.
Stating about the ongoing situation Prof. Nageshwar Rao, Vice-Chancellor IGNOU said, "The current wave of Covid-19 undoubtedly, is more severe which during recent times, has affected the entire humanity and in particular our country. As IGNOU with its 56 regional centre and 1800 Student support centres are concerned, we are committed to ensure your safety as well as wellbeing of more than 30 lakh learners enrolled with the University. Therefore, I earnestly request all you to strictly adhere to the Government's directions and guidelines of social distancing, vaccination."
Speaking on the steps taken by the University in facilitating online education and e-study material, Professor said, "At IGNOU education is imparted through various means, especially with the self instructitional materials including e-Gyankosh, IGNOU's e-content mobile app, and regular broadcast of academic content through GyanDarshan, GyanDhara and four SwayamParbha channels."

On term end exams Vice Chancellor said that the University has already postponed the Term End Examination. "The University is concerned about the Current situation and, after taking the stock of situation, and in line with the UGC guidelines and Govt of India advisory the University came out with a plan for conduct of examination for our students and you will be informed well in time for the same," he added in his letter.

Issuing an advisory Vice Chancellor requested the learners to not to fall pray to any rumours and regularly visit the website ignou.ac.in for any update in this regard.
