ICAI releases January-February 2021 Exams notice, 31,000 students opt-out so far for next-Year exams

Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced the conduct the CA January/February exams from 21st January onwards. The examination will be conducted in all cities where the exams are being conducted in November 2020, notice reads.

ICAI CA January/ February 2021 Examination: ICAI has announced that a separate examination will also be conducted from 21st January 2021 besides May 2021 examination. For Students having any impact of COVID-19, ICAI facilitated through announcement wherein he/ she can opt-out anytime till the last day of his/ her examination and appear in next Examination to be conducted in January 2021 or May 2021 while also carry forward his/ her due exemption and credit of fees. "To opt out, no document is required to be submitted (only self-declaration required)", ICAI says in its notice.

"In continuation of announcement dated 7th november 2019, it is informed that January-February 2021 exams will commence from 21st January 2021 in all cities where the November 2020 scheduled examination are currently being held. Further details related to the schedule of exams and Admit card will be intimated soon after the last date of Opt-out scheme", notice adds.

ICAI has started an online window for the Opt-Out scheme for the November 2020 CA Final / Intermediate exams. According to a report published in ToI, nearly 31,000 students Opt-out for the Jan/Feb 2021 exams.

ICAI Exam SOP: The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, the Government of India has issued SOP on preventive measures to be followed while conducting examinations to contain spread of COVID19 on 02.09.2020. Here is the direct link for the SOP. As per the SOP, if a candidate is medically reported to be COVID-19 positive, he / she cannot be allowed to enter the examination center and appear for any examination.

All the candidates must take note that if they are suffering from COVID-19, they shall not appear for the forthcoming examinations and they would not be allowed to enter the examination center.

Making an important announcement in regarding the false rumours, ICAI says "for certain category of candidates stating on social media that despite being tested Covid +ve, they intend to appear for CA Exams.
