Haryana Board Class 12 Exam 2021 has been cancelled, State Education Minister Kanwar Pal told PTI sources on Tuesday. The decision came shortly after CBSE board announced cancelling its 12th Class board exams in view of the safety of the students amid COVID-19 pandemic.
"We have also decided to cancel the Class 12 board exams in the state which were to be conducted by the Board of School Education Haryana", Mr. Pal told PTI yesterday.
"We are going with the decision taken by the Centre and have decided to cancel the Haryana board exams. The state board will take steps to compile the results of Class 12 students and modalities for this will be worked out shortly, State Minister added.
Earlier, a decision to cancel the CBSE exams for Class 12 was taken in a high-level meeting chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The meeting took place in the absense of Union Education Minister. However, after the decision Union Minister welcomed the decision, calling it as priority to students' health.
"Government of India has decided to cancel the Class XII CBSE Board Exams. After extensive consultations, we have taken a decision that is student-friendly, one that safeguards the health as well as future of our youth," the Prime Minister tweeted.
Earlier on April 15, the Haryana govt. had cancelled the Class 10 board exams for this year. It had decided to postpone the board exams for class 12, on the sidelines of CBSE board.
