DU Open Book Examinations ! New Guidelines for Final Year/ Semester July Exams

The University of Delhi, has released Open Book Examination guidelines 2020. DU Dean of Examinations for July 2020 Online Open Book Examinations (OBE) released detailed guidelines on Sunday. According to DU Examinations date sheet July 2020 examinations, Delhi University has intimated detailed instructions and format of Open Book Exams. Earlier Delhi University Examintion Dean has issued a letter to all the Heads of the Departments (HODs) of the colleges in subject to setting of paper for Open Book Examinations (OBE). The Dean of Examinations on Wednesday issued 11 points stated letter for Open Book Examinations for final Year/ Final Semester for all streams and to students of Regular, SOL, NCWEB.

Dean issued two pages letter for Open Book Examinations confirms that the University shall take the final year/ final semester examinations for all Regular, SOL and NCWEB Students. Eleven points guidelines are mentioned in letter written to HODs on module of Open Book Examinations 2020. DU Open Book Examinations

Delhi University has released Guidelines/ policies related with the conduct of Open Book Examinations (OBE) remotely for final semester/term/year students for all UG programmes of all streams including NCWEB and SOL in view of the COVID-19 pandemic as one time measure for the academic session 2019- 2020. DU UG Final year examination are going to begin from June 1, 2020 onwards.

The examinations of final semester/term/year shall begin from 01.07. 2020 as notified vide notification dated 14.05.2020 available on the University website. The tentative schedule of examinations to be conducted in OBE mode for the final year students of all UG programmes in regular mode as registered with colleges and departments as well as for those registered with NCWEB and School of Open Learning have already been released on 29.05.2020. The tentative datesheets have been released to ascertain any left out papers or any other inconsistency in the same and based on the inputs /suggestions received from the students and stakeholders , the final date sheet as required is released.

Examinations for Backlog-

However, University of Delhi has not confirmed anything about the first and second-year examinations but the university has made it clear that it would conduct the examinations for 1st / 2nd years, 2nd Sem / 4th Sem simultaneously for repeaters who are in 3rd year/ final year. It means that the university shall take the examinations of all the final year students having backlog in their previous semesters.

The letter states that the Students are supposed to appear in Examinations from their homes and will download examination question paper from official website portal of DU for their respective courses. Students have to attempt on the plain white sheets.

Two Hours Examinations-

The duration of the examinations will be of two hours. However the University will give an extra hour for downloading the question paper. Meanwhile the scanning of the answer sheets, and uploading these answer sheets
to the University’s portal will include in this extra hour provided by the university.  

Module of Open Book Examinations-

In letter it is stated that Open Book Examination option would be given to students. Where students can use the books and reference material to answers the question. This type of examination is called OPEN BOOK EXAMINATION.

The question paper that will be formulated for the final year students’ examinations will consist of  6 questions out of which the students have to attempt only 4 questions of their choice in the time of 2 hours.

There will be No Parts in Questions-

The question paper will include 6 questions and the questions will not be further divided into parts like (a), (b) or (c). The maximum marks for the question paper will be 75 and 100 in the case of SOL/NCWEB papers.

Paper will comprise Three Sets-

As the letter issued by the Dean(Examination), the University of Delhi discussed even the minute details of the examination. it also discussed that the question paper will consist of 3 sets for each course of both UG and PG programs that will be set by the department itself.

Students can’t Copy / Cheat in OBE Examination-

The University of Delhi has allowed the students to use books during the examination. The letter stated that the examination question paper will be framed in a manner that will check the understanding of the concept and the analytical skills of the student appearing for the examination. Thus there shall be no/ minimum scope for cheating or verbatim copying from the books or the reference study material during the examination.

Exam Login Credentials-

The question paper will be uploaded on the official website of the University of Delhi on the special examination portal created by the University. The details of the Login Credentials will be shared shortly by the students before the Examinations.  

Uploading of Answer Sheets at University Portal (Deadline)-

Students will have to upload the answer sheets of Examination m to the University of Delhi’s official portal within three hours from the start of the virtual examination. It means that the students will get two hours for solving the question paper and the rest one hour is for downloading the question paper, scanning the answer sheets, and finally uploading it to the University’s website.

HOD to submit Questions Papers till 3rd June-

Time of the colleges has to send the question papers to the Dean (examination), the University of Delhi by 3rd June 2020.
