Ahead of Republic Day, Delhi has been provided full-fledged security cover and tightened to a peak level. Security arrangements are hiked to a top level and Delhi Police has placed a multi-layered security lay-out as ANI Reported. Necessary liaison & rehearsals have been made with units like NSG, SPG & ITBP. All the agencies are working in close coordination with each other. In Delhi Sharpshooters and snipers have been deployed to monitor the eight-kilometer long parade route. In capital SWAT teams are activated and strategically stationed. The Facial Recognition System of the Delhi Police is also set up at several points for the identification of suspects. Ten mobile police control rooms and 10 CCTV control rooms with 1000 plus CCTV cameras have been installed to maintain surveillance on major areas. More than 100 cameras have been installed for facial reconnaissance at prominent places near the parade route.
In connection with the Republic Day celebration Delhi Police, National Security Guard and Paramilitary forces have been deployed for security on Republic Day. Apart from 22 thousand soldiers of Delhi Police, 48 companies of Central Armed Police Force are deployed in security cover.
NSG and SPG are deployed- NSG, SPG and ITBP commands have also been deployed to protect the parade and VVIPs. More than 1000 CCTV cameras have been installed on the route. To prevent any kind of misadventure in national Capital security check points of important establishments, malls and markets in Delhi, increasing patrolling in crowded areas. Security is also tightened at metro stations, railway stations, airports and bus terminals in city.
President Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday will address the nation on the Eve of Republic Day. President's address will be broadcasted from 7 pm onwards on channels of Doordarshan and national network of All India Radio.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has also issued advisory related to Parking. Delhi Metro parking facilities will remain closed from 6:00 am today till 2:00 pm on 26th January at all metro stations.
