Nobel Prize of 2019 for Economic Sciences is awarded to Abhijit Banerjee, Esther Duflo and Michael Kremer for their masterpiece in studies on poverty. In the memory of Alfred Nobel the Prizes are being awarded in various categories and in the same row, Indian-American Abhijit Banerjee who is Bengal born MIT University Professor in US along with Esther Duflo and Michael Kremer, wins the Nobel Prize 2019 in Economic Sciences. Abhijit Banerjee is second after Amartya Sen who won the First Nobel prize in Economics from Indian side. On Monday The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences to Abhijit Banerjee and two other Micheal Kremer and Esther Duflo for their experimental point of view, they have made a significant contribution towards reducing global poverty. India-born Abhijeet Banerjee as hinted come from Economics background. Abhijit’s mother and father were professors of Economics in India.
Abhijeet Banerjee did his studies from South Point School and Presidency College, Kolkata. He obtained an Economics degree from Presidency College. After this, he came to Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi in the year 1983 and did his Masters fropm JNU. At Present Banerjee is serving at the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), USA as Professor in Economics.
