Hundred, a Hotstar Specials featuring Lara Dutta's leading drama-comedy, Hundred is now streaming on Disney Plus and Hoststar VIP. Co-stars Karan Wahi and Rinku Rajguru. The Hotstar Hundred special series brings us to the life of Netra Patil, (Rinku Rajguru), an honest and selfless official who is also a Bollywood fan and dreams of one day going to Switzerland. In stark contrast to the dream world he often gets lost in, is his reality, where Netra lives with her father, grandfather and younger brother, in a fight in Mumbai.
Lara Dutta makes an impressive web series debut with the show. She not only plays a fierce and headstrong ACP officer, but is also a wife and daughter. The actress lets her eyes speak in several scenes and delicately delivers each dialogue. The story has several twists. While some fit, others seem to be a little forced. The romantic angle between Maddy (Karan Wahi) and Saumya, for example, was not really necessary.
Being the sole breadwinner in the house and putting her family first, Netra is compared to a 'Kadi Patta' (Curry Tree) by her maternal uncle, who urges her to start living for herself. When they tell her that she has a brain tumor and that she is only a hundred days old, Netra decides to change her life and do the things she always wanted.
Then there is ACP Saumya (Lara Dutta). She lives on her own terms, without apologizing. Even if that means using people close to her for her own benefit. Despite her strong position and personality, she is subject to constant sexism at work. Her boss, DCP Anshuman (Parmeet Sethi) prefers her to attend flash mobs or special Women's Day functions rather than allow her to chase a clue in a major case.
The first episode of Hundred sets all the main characters and the plot. The series then moves at a comfortable pace at all times. However, the climax seems to be a bit abrupt. You can easily watch the program in one session. There are eight episodes in total, and each of them ends in a cliffhanger, making you want to press the 'Next Episode' button instantly.
However, Cien's greatest strength lies in his characters. Almost all the main characters have their own aspirations to fulfill. Whether Netra wants to live life to the fullest, Saumya strives to be recognized for her work, Parvin (Sudhanshu Pandey) seeks media attention through a powerful case, or Maddy tries to enter show business, each character is well defined, well written and well done.
Sairat fame Rinku Rajguru makes a 'Zingaat' entry into the digital space. With his intense expressions, appropriate body language, and perfect portrayal of carefree Netra, Rinku steals the show in multiple segments.
Karan Wahi emerges as the surprise package. The actor plays a rapper who fights in the movie and murders that Haryanvi dialect. It is an absolute delight to see us and it makes us cry when it cries, and to smile when it does.
