Superstar Rajinikanth Wins Dadasaheb Phalke Award: The 67th National Film Awards ceremony was held at Vigyan Bhawan on Monday. Meanwhile, superstar Rajinikanth was honored with the 51st Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Everyone present in Vigyan Bhavan stood and applauded in the honor of Rajinikanth.

After being honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Rajinikanth thanked the Government of India for this. He said in his address- "I thank the Government of India for conferring me with this award. I am giving this award to my Guru K. Balachander, my brother Satyanarayan Rao and my transport driver friend Raj Bahadur.

Rajinikanth has been ruling the cinema for the last 5 decades. He is still active in cinema. Rajinikanth's real name was Shivaji Rao Gaekwad. Rajinikanth was five years old when his mother passed away. After the death of his mother, the responsibility of the family fell on his shoulders. Running a household was not so easy for Rajinikanth as well. He even worked as a porter to run the household.

Rajinikanth used to work as a bus conductor before appearing in films. Rajinikanth took entry in the Tamil film industry from Balachander's film 'Apoorva Ragangal'. Receiving the Dadasaheb Award, Rajinikanth said he was sad that Balachander was not with him to witness the moment. Rajinikanth considers Balachander as his guru.

Rajinikanth made his acting debut with Kannada plays. Rajinikanth became popular from house to house in the role of Duryodhana.

Coolie-turned-superstar Rajinikanth would never have reached this far had it not been for his friend Raj Bahadur to keep his dream of becoming an actor alive. And it was he who asked Rajinikanth to enroll in the Madras Film Institute. It was because of the friend that Rajinikanth went ahead and then started working in films.

He made his Bollywood debut in the year 1983. His first Hindi film was Andha Kanoon. After this Rajinikanth only climbed the ladder of progress. Today he is called the biggest star of South Indian cinema. Rajinikanth's son-in-law and actor Dhanush has also received the National Award for Best Actor.
