Union Public Service Commission is about to release Civil Services Exam 2020 Paper 1 and 2. Holding OMR based CSE Prelims 2020 examination on October 4, Commission shall likely display Answer key for General Studies Paper 1 & 2 set code wise within 5 days of the examination. Candidates appear for the CSE Prelims exam 2020 can view the availability of Answer key only after the examination at upsc.gov.in.
Commission on October 4, 2020 (Sunday) successfully conducts Civil Services Preliminary examination at allotted centres. The CSE Prelims 2020 examination consisting of General Studies Paper 1, 2 in Morning & Afternoon shifts respectively. The examination has been conducted following the social distancing norms. Ahead of the examination candidates are provided a detailed analysis of the GS Paper 1 and Paper 2 for set A, B, C & D.
Wearing of mask/ face cover was made mandatory for all candidates. Candidates without mask/face cover were not allowed entry into the Venue. Candidates, however, allowed to remove their masks for verification, whenever required by the Examination functionaries. Candidate were allowed carrying their own hand sanitizer (small size) in transparent bottle. Candidates following the COVID 19 norms of 'social distancing' as well as 'personal hygiene' inside the Examination Halls/ Rooms as well as in the premises of the Venue.

UPSC CSE Prelims 2020 exam held for General Studies Paper - I from 09.30 A.M to 11.30 A.M and General Studies Paper 2 from 02.30 P.M to 04.30 P.M. Candidates can view the set code wise answers key for GS Paper 1 & 2 at web site upsc.gov.in, likely within 5 days of the examination.

UPSC CSE Prelims Paper Analysis:
Union Public Service Commission conducts CSE Preliminary exam 2020 on October 4, 2020. Civil Services 2020 Prelims examination has been conducted in two shifts, GS Paper 1 & 2 respectively. A total 100 Questions were asked in CSE Prelims paper 1 held in Morning which was followed by Shift 2 General Studies paper 2 with 80 Multiple-choice based objective questions. A total 2 hours time duration was given to each paper.
There is penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in both the question papers of the UPSC Civil Services Prelims Examination 2020.
Paper 1: 100 Questions each carrying two marks, consisted of topics including Current events of national and international importance, History of India and Indian National Movement, Indian and World Geography-Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World, Indian Polity and Governance-Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, Economic and Social Development-Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change and General Science.

Paper 2: 80 Objective type questions from Comprehension, Interpersonal skills including communication skills, Logical reasoning and analytical ability; Decision making and problem solving, General mental ability, Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency).
Paper 2 (Moderate to Tough Level): UPSC CSAT Paper 2 Consisted of 80 Questions from Economy, Geography, Current National & International Events, Indian Polity, History, Art & Culture, Environment & Ecology. International events etc. The Overall paper level is termed as moderate to tough level.
Expected Cut off for Prelims:
Cut off marks on the basis of GS Paper-I only. GS Paper-II was of qualifying nature with 33% marks as per Rule-15 of Civil Services Examination, 2019. Last year the Cut off marks in Civil Services (Prelim) exam for General catgory was 98.00, 90.00 for EWS, 95.34 for OBC, 82.00 for SC, 77.34 for ST, 53.34 for PwBD 1, 44.66 for PwBD 2, 40.66 for PwBD-3 and 61.34 PwBD 4.
It should be noted that UPSC CSE Prelims 2020 Paper-II of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination will be a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%.
However, Cut-off marks are subject to changes, as may be necessitated by the orders that may be passed by the Hon’ble Courts in matters pending before them. Category-wise recommendations details shall also be uploaded after conclusion of pending court case at UPSC.
