UPSC Extra Attempt: Demanding Extra Attempts, Age Relaxation Thousands Protest in Delhi

In demand of an extra attempt from UPSC, thousands of exam aspirants protested outside the residence of HM Amit Shah Ji. Citing the Covid conditions they further demand relaxation in the upper age limit in the UPSC exams.

Thousands of UPSC aspirants on Monday rallied outside the residence of Home Minister Amit Shah demanding more attempts and age relaxation in the Civil Service and other examinations of 2021. The protest backed by Teachers, Activists, and political leaders reached New Delhi yesterday in which a section of UPSC aspirants gathered at Jantar Mantar and raised slogans demanding an extra attempt and age relaxation in UPSC Exams. 

Alongside, the protesting students also received warm responses on social media as many of the activists, political figures and academicians backed their online campaign (#UpscExtraAttempt) on a micro-blogging site. \

Claiming that the COVID-19 pandemic has affected their preparations. They demand an extra attempt in compensation for an attempt that was lost last year during the first wave of Coronavirus. Among these, a majority of the aspirants have either crossed the age bar or have exhausted their last attempt last year.

While a section of protesting students press for their demands including 2 extra attempts and 2 years of relaxation in age (including aspirants of 2020 and 2021) in all central government exams UPSC, SSC, IBPS, SBI, RBI, etc).

The same demand is being raised by the UPSC aspirants for the last couple of months but gained momentum after the central government pulled back the controversial farm laws. The matter is related to the careers of the lakhs of students, why the government is not holding talks with us? We seek an answer from the government, an aspirant raised a question.

 

The demand requesting the central government to give 2 extra attempts and 2-years' of age relaxation in government job exams and other exams has been backed by different personalities, politicians, and activists.

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts Civil Service Exam every year and thousands of aspirants appear for UPSC exams in the country. Many of them give multiple attempts to get through the Civil Services examination.
