NTA CUCET 2021: Common Entrance Test Notification, Eligibility, Exam Date & More

The National Testing Agency will conduct Central Universities Common Entrance Test or CUCET 2021 paving the way foward to admissions into participating varsities for 2021-22. The agency will conduct CUCET 2021 examination following the social distancing and other guidelines.

The National Testing Agency will conduct CUCET 2021 exam for admissions into participating Central and state Universities on September 15, 16, 23, and 24, 2021. Under the New Education Policy 2020, NTA would conduct CUCET 2021 covering all 12 central universities, prestigious institutions that have so far depended on class 12 marks and cut-offs. For the same, the registration has started on Monday, August 16, 2021. The last date for registration is September 01, 2021. Whereas, the last date of fee transaction is September 02, 2021 up to 11:50 pm.

According to the Education Ministry, CUCET 2021 was be expanded to cover all universities that were dependent on Class 12 mark and cutoffs or their own entrance tests, in accordance with the New Education Policy recommendations. But refused at the later stage. Similar to last year, CUCET 2021 will be conducted for admissions into Central Universities.

The aspirants are hereby informed about the CUCET 2021 examination details as tentative measures.

CUCET 2021 Application Form:

According to the schedule, NTA has started the process for submission of online applications for CUCET 2021 on August 16. The detailed schedule consisting of common entrance test date, admit card, result, and counseling, etc, has been released on the official website of the National Testing Agency at www.nta.ac.in.

Candidates are required to apply online through CUCET-2020 website- Candidates who are appearing in the final examination of the qualifying degree/certificate are eligible to apply. Details of Programme of Studies, Eligibility Criteria, Programme Structure, Faculty Profile etc. are available at the respective website of Participating Universities (PU) and candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria of each PU for a given programme before applying for CUCET-2021.

Eligibility for CUCET 2021:

Students who have passed Class 12th/ Senior Secondary or HS Examination will be eligible to apply for CUCET 2021. NTA will be releasing CUCET 2021 exam date, pattern, syllabus, for the students' preparation. Although it was proposed under NEP-2020, the authorities never gave any official announcement regarding its implementation, yet.

CUCET 2021 Exam Pattern/ Syllabus: 

The Central University Common Entrance Test (CUCET) 2021 shall consist of multiple-choice question papers covering Language, General Awareness, Mathematical Aptitude, and Analytical Skills, as well as subject-specific knowledge.

Part A: Language, general awareness, mathematical aptitude and analytical skills – comprising of 25 MCQs, Part B: Domain Knowledge – comprising of 75 MCQs. It may consist of three/four/five sections. Each section will have 25 questions. A candidate is required to answer a set of any three sections (75 questions).

Last year, the CUCET was only used for admission to 12 Central Universities and four State universities. However, earlier this year, the proposal has taken on new urgency since Class 12 examinations were canceled, with every board issuing its own tabulation formula to assign marks instead.

Admission Process:

Admissions into participating CUs, SUs will be based on performance in the Common Entrance Test 2021. Admissions are handled at the level of each of these Central Universities and State Universities for their respective programs. After the declaration of the CUCET results, the respective Central Universities and State Universities will declare the counseling/admission schedule and merit list based on the weightage on the CUCET-2021 score and the other criteria of PU.
