PM on Rail Accident in Aurangabad: Extremely anguished by loss of lives

PM Narendra Modi took to Twitter on Friday to express 'anguish' over the workers' death in Aurangabad where at least 15 migrant workers were crushed to death by a cargo train early morning. The migrant workers were returning to Chhattisgarh amid nationwide lockdown in the wake of novel coronavirus outbreak into the country. Officials added that one person has sustained injuries. Migrant workers were sleeping on the railway tracks when they run over by a goods train at around 5.15 am, the official added. The incident happened on the Aurangabad-Jalna railway line.

Railways Ministry said 'During early hours today after seeing some laborers on track, loco pilot of goods train tried to stop the train but eventually hit them between Badnapur & Karmad stations in Parbhani-Manmad section. Injured taken to Aurangabad Civil Hospital'.

In Aurangabad, Maharashtra, 15 migrant laborers died after being hit by a goods train on a railway track. All the workers were going to Madhya Pradesh. The accident occurred near Karamad station near Aurangabad. The incident occurred while the workers were sleeping on the railway track. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also expressed grief over the incident.

PM Express anguish over Workers death

The Railway Ministry said that the incident took place between Badnapur and Karnad station. This area comes under the Parbhani-Manmad section of the railway. Some workers were sleeping on the railway track in the early hours of Friday. The driver of the goods train saw them, tried to save them, but an accident happened. Orders have been ordered to investigate the matter.

Karmad police said that the workers were going to Bhusawal from Jalna. From there he had to catch the train. He was supposed to go to Madhya Pradesh. The workers were walking next to the railway track. When tired, he fell asleep on the track. According to reports, the laborers worked in a steel factory in Jalna.
