Prime MinisterAs per reports, thousands of people dispersed from Bandra Railway Station, this evening. Bandra Police dispersed the mass gathered at Railway Station by using lathicharge amid lockdown. Revoking all social distancing norms, more than 5 thousand workers’ gathered at Bandra Railway station as they received fake message on resuming of train services. Later Home Minister Amit Shah expressed the concern over mass gathering at Railway Station Bandra. In his call to Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, Amit Shah expressed concern saying this kind of events weaken our fight against Covid19.

Earlier in the morning the Prime Minister of India officially announced the extension of the lockdown till 3 May, 2020 due to the covid19 pandemic.

The incidence in Bandra where thousands of workers gathered is serious cause of concern for India, said Home Minister Amit Shah. Based on recent updates thousands of workers gathered amd later dispersed from Bandra Railway station.
The fake message of resuming train services at Bandra Railway station caused an uproar in the migrant labour class in Maharashtra who gathered at the ‘Bandra’ railway station to go to their native towns. Seeing the gathering, the police officials tried to control the crowd and to send them back home which led to the lathi charge. It is also being reported that CM of Maharashta urged Prime Minister Modi to start train services in state for 24 hours during video conferencing on 11 April.

The same kind of gathering was seen at the ‘Anand Vihar bus station’ in the capital of India, New Delhi. A large number of the migrant labour class gathered at the bus station to go their home town. However, after this Uttar Pradesh roadways was started.

Hundreds of migrant workers came out on streets near Bandra railway station in Mumbai demanding permission to go back to their hometowns amid the recent announcement of extension of lockdown till May 3 by the government. The agitated labourers claimed that they are not getting sufficient food supplies and are being asked to pay their house rent. In the light of lockdown, they have lost their jobs and are rendered unemployed and dont have enough resources to arrange for the same. They demanded disposition of transport facilities in order to take them back to their native states. The crowd later dispersed when police took over and started lathi charge when the workers remained adamant.

The current situation at Bandra Station, now dispersed or even the rioting in Surat is a result of the Union Govt not being able to take a call on arranging a way back home for migrant labour. They don’t want food or shelter, they want to go back home, Aditya Thackeray tweeted.

Certainly, after this uproar the union and the state governments are appealing to the public to stay where they are. Where on other hand Maharashta state Govt has also extended the lockdown till April end and joined other satates where lockdown has been extended ahead of PM's call of nationwide lockdown. Maharashta has the highest number of Covid19 cases in India and also has most no of Coronavirus hotspots in country.
