Palghar Saints lynching- MHA seeks report from Maharashtra Government

Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday (20 April, 2020) asked Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackrey report of Palgarh incident that took place at last Thursday night. The government of Maharashtra had already ordered a high-level inquiry into the incident on Sunday. Meanwhile, two police personnel of Palghar's Kasa Police Station were suspended, district SP Gaurav Singh told ANI.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had also spoken to Maharashtra CM Thackeray and insisted on taking stern action against the culprits. Earlier in Palghar District of Maharashtra 3 people were beaten to death by villagers in Palghar on suspicion of theft on 17th April. Though FIR has been filed against villagers & 110 people have been arrested, of which 101 have been sent to police custody till 30 April & 9 minors have been sent to a juvenile shelter home.

A video related to incident viraled on social media, in which it can be seen that villagers damaged car of the deceased using sticks, stones and other objects. Police reached spot immediately but still villagers continued to attack the three men. The Palghar incident has been acted upon. Police have arrested all those accused who attacked the 2 sadhus, 1 driver and the police personnel, on the day of the crime itself, Chief Minister Office of Maharashtra twitted on Sunday (19 April, 2020).

Palghar Saints Lynching incident-

The terrifying incident of Palgarh took place on last Thursday (16 April, 2020) night. Two Sadhus, 70-year-old Kalpavrishka Giri Maharaj and 35-year-old Sushil Giri Maharaj along with their driver 30-year-old Nilesh Telgade associated with the Juna Akhara, were on their way from Mumbai to Gujarat to give Samadhi to another Sadhu. At Gadakchinchale village, a wild and out of control crowd of over more than 100 people attacked them. The villagers supposed them as thieves and started attacking them. The police claimed that their team which had rushed to the spot to rescue the 70-year-old man also came under the attack of the violent mob.

The Palghar police on Friday has also issued several advisories, including voice notes in local dialects on WhatsApp, urging people to not believe in the rumours being spread.
