No New Govt Job in Maharashtra, Thackeray Govt also looking to halt new Schemes

After Haryana, Maharashtra becomes the second state where new Government Jobs are suspended temporarily. Maharashtra Govt on Wednesday announced to suspend all recruitment in all departments, except public health and medical education. State Finance Department bringing a Government Resolution (GR) halted the new recruitment at state level.  

New Jobs in Maharashtra in all departments (except public health & medical education) have been stopped, a government resolution (GR) issued by the finance department on Monday outlining the measures it has undertaken to prevent its coffers from getting depleted further said.

No New Govt Job in Maharashtra

The Maharashtra state government to restrict spending from state revenue fund has decided to suspend all recruitments of state level, to tackle financial crises like situation in State, due to Coronavirus lockdown. Uddhav Thackeray led Govt has also asked various departments to not propose any new scheme in the ongoing fiscal. The state government will not be spending on any new scheme it had undertaken from the start of fiscal 2020-21.

According to a news agency PTI quoted the GR, Maharashtra state after Haryana becomes second who puts suspension on Government Jobs at state level. Last week Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar announced to halt new Govt jobs in state for one year. Maharashtra is the most affected state of Covid19, comprising Mumbai and Pune having large number of hotspots. Government is facing huge deficit as the situation is worsening in state due to Coronavirus.

The Maharashtra government has also announced a slew of measures, including near recruitment freeze, to shore up revenue and meet unavoidable expenditures like staff salaries and to carry out important functions.

By Tuesday Maharashtra has reported more than 14,500 coronavirus positive cases, highest in any state in India so far. Mumbai alone has more than 9,000 cases. Despite of the current situation, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray -has set an ambitious target of zero cases of coronavirus by the end of this month of May. Faced with major disruption of economic activity in the wake of coronavirus outbreak, Maharashtra Govt on Monday decided to suspend new Govt job in state.
