On Monday US President Donald Trump said during press briefing that he is taking Hydroxychloroquine an anti-malarial drug daily. In White House press briefing President Trump said along with him lots of health workers are consuming the Hydroxychloroquine and Zinc drug to fight against Covid. Answering a question over HCQ & its side effects he said, Yes I’m taking it, Hydroxychloroquine from lot of weeks ago. If it was dangerous, I couldn’t be here, it’s been here for 40 years for Malaria, Trump said. Trump added that he is taking zinc and Hydroxychloroquine to protect himself against the novel coronavirus. The President is taking the malarial drug despite warnings from his own government that it should only be administered for COVID-19 in a hospital or research setting due to potentially fatal side effects. Trump told reporters he has been taking the drug, Hydroxychloroquine, and a zinc supplement daily- for about a week and a half now. Trump spent weeks pushing the drug as a potential cure or prophylaxis for COVID-19 against the cautionary advice of many of his administration’s top medical professionals

During Monday's press briefing Trump said along with HCQ he takes a single dose of azithromycin, an antibiotic which is meant to prevent infection. In conjunction with hydroxychloroquine, Trump said he was also taking zinc. All I can tell you is so far I seem to be OK, Trump said. Answering over has White House recommended it? US President Trump said his doctor did not recommend the drug to him, but he requested it from the White House physician. Further President said that he consulted with White House doctor on taking antimalarial drug that he has called a possible defense against coronavirus.
The Food and Drug Administration warned health professionals last month that the drug should not be used to treat COVID-19 outside of hospital or research settings, due to sometimes fatal side effects. Regulators issued the alert for the drug, which can also be used to treat lupus and arthritis, after receiving reports of heart rhythm problems, including deaths, from poison control centers and other health providers. Trump dismissed reports of side effects, saying, All I can tell you is, so far I seem to be OK.
According to Fox News Channel, immediately after Trump's remarks over Hydroxychloroquine, interviewed Dr Bob Lahita, a professor of medicine at Rutgers University, who cautioned people not to take hydroxychloroquine. He said- there's no effect that we have seen, and we have treated multiple patients with it.

Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) is an Indian manufactured anti-malarial drug, using for several diseasess for last 40 years. Recently Indian Govt supplied huge consignment of HCQ to USA, on urge of US President Donald Trump to Indian Prime Minister Modi. According to MEA, Government of India the drug has been supplied to more than 100 Countries.
