Karwa Chauth 2020 will be quite different due to pandemics but married women fasts for the whole day from sunrise to moonrise for the healthy and long life of their husband. Women begin preparing for the Karwa Chauth a few days in advance. Women buy shringar, jewelry, puja items to celebrate this festival with great auspicious and dressed with the proper Suhagaan style. They apply henna on their hands and fasts for their husband for the whole day and dresses in a traditional outfit. In the evening, the group of women from the community come together and start the ritual of pooja and waiting for the moon to rise.

Women break their Karwa Chauth fast after the moon rises and before that, they will not have a drop of water for the whole day. Women preparing Karwa Chauth a few days before and love to get dressed on this occasion. Women have sargi which is given by the Mother in law to daughter in law and Sargi has special significance in Hinduism as it is the pre-dawn meal which brings both women closer and helps for the well being of their Son/Husband.

Karwa Chauth is also known as Karak Chaturthi. Karwa or Karak refers to the earthen pot which is filled with water and offered to the moon for the healthy life of the husband, known as Argha, which is made to the moon. Karwa is very important during Puja and it is also given as Dan to the Brahmin or any eligible woman. Women filled that Karwa with some sweets or preferred things to bestow to some needy or Brahmin.
