IGNOU PhD Admission 2021 Begins at ignou.nta.ac.in; Check Eligibility, Registration & Entrance Dates Here

National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of IGNOU has started the online application process for Ph.D. Admissions 2021 at its portal ignou.nta.ac.in. Applications are invited from the eligible and interested candidates online from December 05, 2021, to December 22, 2021. While the last date for the making of examination fee payment is December 23 up to 11:50 PM. IGNOU Ph.D. entrance test is scheduled to be held on January 16, 2022. 

Candidates can apply for IGNOU Ph.D. admission 2021 through online mode at ignou.nta.ac.in. They can read the admission-related instructions including how to fill up the application form, required eligibility, last date for application, entrance test, etc, in the Information Bulletin.

To be eligible for the IGNOU Ph.D. entrance test, the candidate should have a Master's Degree from a University recognized by UGC in the relevant discipline with at least 55% marks for the General category in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed. 50%marks in the case of SC, and OBC (non-creamy layer)/ differently-abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of UGC from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master's Degree prior to 19th September 1991 excluding grace marks.

Candidates may follow the steps given below to apply online for IGNOU Ph.D. Admissions 2021:

Step-1: Apply for Online Registration using your own Email Id and Mobile No.

Step-2: Fill in the online Application Form and note down the system generated Application Number.

Step-3: Upload scanned images of recent photograph, candidate’s signature, and PwD certificate (if any).

Step-4: Pay the fee using the Payment Gateway / Net Banking / Debit Card / Credit Card / UPI.

Step 5: Submit the application form and take a printout for future reference.

The last date for successful transaction of examination fee is December 23, 2021, up to 11:50 PM. Candidates belonging to General (UR), OBC-(NCL), General-EWS have to pay a sum of Rs 1000 as an application fee, while for candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ PwD/ Third Gender the sum is Rs 800.

IGNOU Ph.D. entrance test will be LAN-based CBT. As per the schedule, the IGNOU entrance test will take place from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The test will consist of 100 questions equally distributed into two sections 50% on Research Methodology and 50% on Specific Subject. The total marks on the test will be 400. There is no provision of negative marking in the entrance test.

IGNOU will shortlist the candidates who obtain 50% marks in the entrance test, for the Interview. 45% marks in case of candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC (non-creamy layers) / differently-abled persons) will be shortlisted for the interview in order of merit, subject to the maximum limit of 5 times of the available seats.
