PM Modi hands over indigenously developed Arjun Mk1a tank to the Indian Army

As per recent reports, PM Modi on Sunday handed over an indigenously developed 3rd generation Arjun main battle tank to Indian armed forces. The ceremony took place at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium, Chennai, Tamil Nadu in presence of COAS MM Narvane.

As per reports, PM Modi on Sunday inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for several key projects & handed over the Arjun Main Battle Tank (MK-1A) to the Indian Army, at Chennai. Arjun MBT has been indigenously designed, developed, and manufactured by CVRDE, DRDO along with 15 academic institutions, 8 labs, and several MSMEs.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister Thiru O Panneerselvam received  Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. COAS MM Narvane was also present when formal handing over of the tank took place.

The tank has been fully designed and developed by the DRDO in close coordination with the Indian Army. The 118 tanks would be joining the fleet of the first batch of 124 Arjun Mk1 tanks which have already been inducted into the Army and are deployed in the western desert along the Pakistan front.
