Indian Army Annual Press Conference: 'Ready to meet any eventuality', says Army Chief on China

Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane on Tuesday addresses the annual press conference. Ahead of Indian Army Day on 15th January, Chief of Army Staff CoAS to holds a press conference, broadcasted live on Tuesday.

"We have maintained a high state of alertness all along the northern borders. We are hoping for a peaceful solution but are ready to meet any eventuality. All logistics are taken care of Ready to meet any eventuality", says Indian Army Chief Naravane on China.

MM Naravane on China: "Mobilisation from Chinese side wasn’t new. We were monitoring. We had no inkling this could happen. They had first mover advantage. We had the first mover advantage in August end. Government has directed us to maintain our positions winter or summer.

Training areas have been vacated by China in depth locations. However, no decease of strength on either side in friction areas, said Army Chief Gen MM Naravane.

On being asked on the situation at fliction points Naravane replied, There has been no decrease in strength either on their side (China) or our side as far as the friction points our concerned.

Hopeful of resolving issues: Talks (between India and China) will be used to address the issues on the basis of mutual and equal security. I am confident that we would be able to resolve the issue

Indian Army Chief M M Naravane said "Pakistan and China together form a potent threat and the threat of collusivity cannot be wished away".

The last year was full of challenges and we had to walk the talk and meet the challenges. We did so and came out on the top. The main challenge was COVID19 and the situation at the northern borders, adds Indian Army Chief.

A broad roadmap has been prepared to bring in all the new technologies to develop a technology-enabled army to meet challenges of future, Naravane said addressing the annual press conference.

Indian Army Day is celebrated on 15th of January every year. This is in recognition of Field Marshal M. Cariappa's taking over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army. He took over from General Sir Francis Butcher, the last British Commander-in-Chief of India, on 15 January 1945.
