she went to the US for study psychology at Boston University but decided to quit studies and came back to India and started her acting career. She made her debut with the drama fictional film Teen Patti in 2010. she earned a Filmfare Best Female Debut nomination. A year later she starred in much-acclaimed movie Luv Ka The End. She garnered wide appreciation for her role in the film. She came to reckoning after her portrayal of Arohi Keshav Shirke in the romantic musical film Aashiqui 2 in 2013. that was thus far her first commercial success project. She received positive reviews from almost all the film critics and her chemistry with Aditya Roy Kapoor became the talking point of the tinsel town.
