URI : The Surgical Strike re-release - Vicky Kaushal starrer will hit the theaters across Maharashtra on the special occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas

URI: The Surgical Strike re-release in MH - Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam starrer "URI: The Surgical Strike" is set to hit the theatres again across Maharashtra on the special occasion of 'Kargil Vijay Diwas' on 26 July. Vicky Kaushal's starrer Uri: The Surgical Strike released in theatres and went on to become one of the biggest hits of the year. The film is getting a re-release on 26 July to mark the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas. Though the film released in January, the hype around it is yet to die down.

      The Maharashtra government has ordered the film to be showcased across 500 theaters in the state. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and I'm glad people will get to see the film for free this time, the publication quotes the director as saying.

Directed by Aditya Dhar and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, it was originally released on 11 January. The film's box office collection was Rs 245.36 crore at the box office, making it the second highest earning Bollywood film of 2019, beaten only by Shahid Kapoor's Kabir Singh.



URI: The Surgical Strike is based on the 18 September terrorist attacks in 2016, which occurred at the Army headquarters in Uri, Kashmir (situated quite near the Line of Control). Four militants and 17 army personnel were killed in the six-hour gun battle that ensued after the surprise attack. India decided to retaliate with the surgical strikes on 29 September.

Apart from Vicky Kaushal, the film also features Yami Gautam, Paresh Rawal and Kriti Kulhari. Moreover, Vicky Kaushal, Aditya Dhar and Ronnie Screwvala are next reuniting for Ashwatthama, a superhero action film set in modern times.
