RRB NTPC Expected Cut off (CBT 1): Minimum Qualifying Marks for General & Reserved categories explained

Railway Recruitment Boards will decide the Cut-off marks for Stage 1 Computer Based Test to shortlist candidates 20 times the number of vacancies for the 2nd stage. Following the normalization, each RRB will prepare its cut-off to shortlist the candidates.

Depending on the number of vacancies under the respective RRB, 1st stage Cut-off marks for the General, OBC, SC, ST & PWD categories will be declared at the time of declaration of CBT 1 results. The candidates who are looking for the Cut off marks for the Stage 1 exam of Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) Graduate & Undergraduate vacancies are hereby notified about the expected cut-off, qualifying marks, procedure and normalization formula for preparing Cut-off marks. 

According to the official advertisement, the 1st Stage of the Computer Based Test is a screening test in nature, and the candidates who obtain equal or more than the Cut off marks would be declared eligible for the 2nd Stage examination for the recruitment of various posts under 7th pay scale. The total number of candidates to be shortlisted for the 2nd stage would be in the ratio of 1: 20 to the number of vacancies advertised under RRB NTPC, CEN 01/2019.

Railway Recruitment Boards would be preparing the 1st stage Cut-off marks out of total marks in CBT 1 i.e 100. Different marks would be decided for the different categories considering the process of Normalization, as the examination is being conducted in multiple phases and shifts.  

Normalization of Marks in Railway: 

A formula for the calculation of normalized marks for multi-session papers has been published on the website rrbchennai.gov.in. The formula has been modified and will be adopted for normalization.

The normalized score of 1st Stage CBT shall be used for shortlisting of candidates for 2nd Stage CBT as per their merit. Candidates who are shortlisted for 2nd Stage CBT availing the reservation benefits of OBC(NCL)/SC/ST/EWS, PwBD and ExSM shall continue to be considered only against OBC(NCL)/SC/ST/EWS, PwBD, and ExSM for all subsequent stages of the recruitment process.

PWD- 38- 43

Shortlisting for Stage-2 Exam:

RRB wise short listing of candidates for 2nd Stage CBT shall be done at the rate of 20 times the vacancies (may increase or decrease as per the requirement of Railway Administration). The short listing for 2 nd Stage CBT will be based on the merit of the candidates in 1st Stage CBT.
