Now What Solution for Jio Users- Jio Will Charge 6 paise/Minute IUC Charge for Non Jio Calls

Jio in its Press release on Wednesday assured its 35 crore customers that the 6 paise per minute (6paise/minute) will be the charge on outgoing off-net mobile calls. All Jio customers who make calls to other than Jio operators (Except list given below) will be charged with 6paise/minute as IUC Charges on TRAI provisions. Among other highlights in Press Release of Jio, Corporation hinted that recovery can be done through IUC Top-up Vouchers and Recovery of Termination Charges is only untill the IUC Charge will be made Zero. In compensation to Top up Vouchers Consumer will get equivalent data for the value of IUC Top Up Vouchers. Giving big relief to Jio consumers there is no increase in Tarrifs for Jio consumers.

Important Note- IUC for mobile calls will be ZERO from 1st January 2020.

What is IUC Charges- Interconnect Usage Charge (IUC) is a cost paid by one mobile telecom operator to another, when its customers make outgoing mobile calls to the other operator’s customers.

Till What Date Jio 6paise/minute Charges will Cost-

This charge of 6 paise/minute outgoing off net Mobile calls shall continue only till the time TRAI abolishes IUC, in line with its present regulation. Jio also assured that the IUC charge will be done away with as per the current regulation and that this temporary charge will come to an end by 31st December 2019 and consumers will not have to pay this charge thereafter.

As per the clarification made by Jio this step is termed towards Reversing Enacted Regulation of IUC which compelled JIO to recover Termination Charge of 6 Paise/minute for mobile voice Calls to other operators.

When 6Paise/Minute Charge will Start-

From October 10, 2019 any Jio customer who make new recharge will be costed 6paise/ minute for outgoing calls to other operators.

How to Get Rid of these Charges-

The following top-up vouchers shall be available for customers to suit their requirements-

Equivalent minutes with IUC charged at 6 paise per minute, with additional charge for GST and processing fee, and duration of each call rounded up to nearest minute.

For Postpaid Users- Post-paid customers will be billed at 6 paise per minute for off-net outgoing calls with increase in free data entitlement to the extent mentioned above.

No Charges for These Customers-

Jio in its press release also emphasized on its commitment that there is no 6 paise per minute charge on:

(a) all Jio to Jio calls

(b) all incoming calls

(c) Jio to landline calls; and

(d) calls made using WhatsApp or Face Time and similar platforms.
