The last date of e shram card registration that was supposed to be December 31, 2021 seems revised as the new deadline is yet to be decided. This allows unorganized sector employees to register online for the e-shram card scheme on the official website of the Ministry of Labour & Employment i.e. register.eshram.gov.in for an extended tenure. However, to avail of the benefit of Rs 500 credit line from the Uttar Pradesh government, the last date is still December 31, 2021.
According to the media reports, the website to register for e shram yojana has gone down due to the heavy traffic. Once it recovers, the eligible workers can make new registrations or update their details online at register.eshram.gov.in.
The purpose of the e shram card scheme is to help the unorganized sector workers across the country. The age of the worker should be between 16 years and 59 years. After registration, a 12 digital Universal Account Number (UAN) will be issued to the registered workers.
It should be noted that all those employees who are not registered under the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) and Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) schemes are eligible to apply for e shram card scheme.
Jan 03, 2022: As many as 6,702,9482 registered candidates have registered so far. The highest number of registrations are recorded from Uttar Pradesh, followed by West Bengal, Bihar, and Odisha.

All workers related to the unorganized sector can apply for e-shram yojana as there is no official last date. However, to avail of the benefits of Rs 500 the last date for e Shram registration is December 31, 2021. This deadline is only for the Uttar Pradesh state workers eying for Rs 500 credit line.
At the time of the news report, it was observed that the website 'eshram.gov.in' was down due to the heavy traffic. In such a scenario the applicants are asked to keep a check at the website and register as soon it recovers.

For the financial year 2022, the central government has allotted a budget of Rs 404 crore. Under e-Shram card scheme, the beneficiaries will be provided an Accidental Death Insurance worth 2 lakh rupees while partially handicapped people will get 1 lakh rupees after the incident. Further, for the Uttar Pradesh state unorganized sector employees Rs 500 will be credited before March 2022 under e-Shram yojana of the central government.

According to the central government, e shram card holders are also eligible for other employment schemes including DDU-GKY, DDUAY, PM SVANidhi, PMKVY, and PMEGP, etc schemes.
