The University of Delhi (DU) will be releasing the first cut-off 2021 on October 01. The first cut-off list will be released online by all participating colleges for all offered courses for the academic session 2021-22. Thereafter, the admissions for the first cut-off list will begin from October 04, 2021, onwards.

Once the first cut-off list is displayed, aspirants who have registered or going to register for DU UG admissions 2021-22 will be able to check and download the college-wise cut-off lists from nodal university site du.ac.in and websites of the respective colleges. The candidates whose top-four subject marks match the percentage defined in 1st cut off list of a particular college and course will be eligible to secure an admission seat. To do so, candidates have to report online, verify the required documents, and make payment of admission fee.

On Tuesday, August 17, 2021, taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter Abhinav Upadhyay, media personal familiar with the development said that the first cut-off of DU will be out on October 01 and admissions will start from October 04. However, an official statement or notice regarding the same is yet to be released at du.ac.in.

The university releases a public notice along with cut-offs of Arts, Commerce, and Science streams on its official website du.ac.in. A detailed schedule for admission under 1st cut-off 2021, admission process, and instructions would be communicated through the public notice.

According to media reports, the first cut-off may soar high, as the statistics of Class 12th of not only CBSE, also of other state boards hugely climbed with the number of students scoring more than 90% marks. Alike last year's cut-offs, the first few cut-offs list of popular courses viz. B.A (Hons) English, B.A Hons (Economics), B.Com (Hons), and B.A (Hons) History are expected to go above 98%, especially in campus colleges. However, the admissions will be entirely based on University rules and the availability of seats.

Earlier, CBSE, ICSE, NIOS, and several other state boards declared the class 12th results on an internal assessment basis as the annual exams were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is expected that this would also be a factor that compels the colleges to reduce the 2nd and 3rd cut-off lists marginally. However, chances of admissions will remain available for students scoring more than 85 percentile, as the university usually releases more than 5 cut-offs every year.

Last year, the first cut-off list was released by Delhi University on October 10, 2020. Students were provided 4 days time to verify their documents and secure an admission seat.
