German-born British composer Max Richter is an alumnus of London's prestigious Royal Academy of Music, and first rose to prominence following the release of his landmark debut album Memoryhouse in 2002. Though he had scored the music for movies like Hope (2007) and Henry May Long (2008) early on in his career, it was the 2008 animated war documentary film Waltz with Bashir that brought Richter's works to international attention for the first time. He won the European Film Award for Best Composer for his work in Waltz with Bashir that year
