Bong Joon-ho is a South Korean film director, producer, and screenwriter, born on September 14, 1969, in Daegu, South Korea. He is one of the most acclaimed and renowned filmmakers in South Korea, and his works have gained international recognition and success.

Bong Joon-ho began his career in the film industry as a screenwriter and made his directorial debut with the film "Barking Dogs Never Bite" in 2000. 
In 2013, Bong Joon-ho directed the science fiction film "Snowpiercer", which became an international success and was praised for its unique storyline and cinematography. His 2019 film "Parasite" won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, becoming the first South Korean film to win the prestigious award, and went on to win four Academy Awards, including Best Picture, making it the first non-English language film to do so.
