NEET 2021 Result Expected by October 15, Check Past Year Cut-off, Result Formula, Admission Seats & More

The National Testing Agency has successfully conducted the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for Undergraduate Medical and Dental course admissions on September 12, 2021. As the examination is held successfully, lakhs of candidates have started waiting for the NEET result date. So far, no official date has been notified by the nodal agency, however, it is expected that the result may be declared by October 15. 

Over 16 lakh candidates have applied for the NEET examination this year. Over 95 per cent appeared in the entrance test held at more than 3800 exam centres across India and abroad. The agency is expected to soon release the NEET answer key (provisional) on its official website. Thereafter, it will mark a way forward to the declaration of result.

According to the past-year trends, the NEET-UG 2021 result can be declared in the 3rd week of October 2021, as the agency usually takes 30 to 35 days to declare the result of one of the biggest exams in the country. However, some of the media reports claim that the National Testing Agency may declare the results around October 10, 2021. However, any official mention of the NEET 2021 result date hasn't yet been made on the official site- neet.nta.nic.in. 

NTA evaluates the answer sheets using a standard procedure and concluding the evaluation process, declares the NEET result on its official site. Thereafter, the scorecards are issued for the students.

Making changes in the tie-breaking criteria this year the agency has removed a candidate's upper age as a criterion for breaking ties. Hence, NTA will break a tie if two or more candidates secure the same marks. It will consider candidates obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Biology (Botany and Zoology) in the Test, followed by, marks/percentile score in Chemistry and then less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in all the subjects.

Last year, the NEET 2020 was held on September 13, 2020, while the result was declared on October 16, 2020. The process marked a 33 days duration between the exam and result dates. In 2019, the result was announced on the 31st day of the eligibility test.

Taking a leaf out of past-year trends, this year, the NEET 2021 result is expected to be announced within 30 to 35 days of examination. The trend depicts that the result can be declared any day between October 10 and October 15, 2021.

As far as the previous-year cut-offs are concerned, here below is the NEET Cut off 2019. It should be noted that the opening and closing ranks of the participating medical institutes vary every year.

NEET Score Calculation:

Students can calculate their NEET 2021 marks using the proposed formula-  

Total NEET 2021 score = (No. of correct answers x 4) - (No. of incorrect answers)

Admission Seats for NEET 2021:

It should be noted that this year admissions into BSc Nursing and BSc Life Sciences courses will also take place on the basis of the NEET 2021 scores. With NEET 2021 score, admission to undergraduate courses on the following number of seats will take place: MBBS- 83,075 seats, BDS- 26,949 seats, AYUSH- 52,720 seats, and Veterinary- 603 seats.
