Maharashtra to Promote Class 1-8 Students without Exams, Announces State Education Minister

Maharashtra Government has decided to promote state Board students of Class 1 to 8 to promote to next standards without holding the exams. The decision to promote students to next class is taken in the context of the ongoing situation due to Coronavirus in Maharashtra state, where almost 80 percent of total cases in India are reported on a daily basis.

On Saturday, April 3 the announcement was made by the State Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad. Taking to her Twitter handle, she wrote, "In view of the ongoing situation due to #Covid 19, all state board students across Maharashtra state from Class 1st to Class 8th will be promoted to the next class without any examinations. A decision regarding students of class 9th and 11th will soon be taken".

However, the examinations of Class 10 and 12 will be held in April-May 2021. The Maharashtra Secondary Education Board has also released the timetable for the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams. Maharashtra secondary and higher secondary education board will conduct from April 23 and May 21, the exams for SSC and HSC.

The decision on whether the exams for Class 9 and 11 will hold, the decision is yet to be taken. "Maharashtra Board exams for Class 9 and 11 will be taken soon", she added in her statement.

Maharashtra school education minister Varsha Gaikwad had announced that the MSBSHSE Board will conduct Practical examinations of HSC and SSC in April and May.
