IGNOU TEE December 2021 Exams Will Be Postponed? Opinions Shared Amid Third Wave of Covid in Delhi

As when the Delhi government has imposed restrictions on the educational institutions due to a hike in the daily COVID-19 cases in the national capital region, speculations are being made regarding the postponement of the upcoming IGNOU December 2021 Term End Exams. On social media, a section of students has started demanding the authorities to take a decision keeping the health concern of the students. The university has decided to conduct December 2021 term-end exams from January 20, 2022, onwards. A tentative date sheet has already been released on the official website ignou.ac.in.

Citing the ongoing COVID-19 conditions and inflicted restrictions, students shared their concerns about holding the mass-level exams amid the rising third wave of the COVID-19 in Delhi and other parts of the country. On social media, an online campaign demanding IGNOU to postpone the TEE December 2021 Exams was launched.

Amid this, on Tuesday Delhi Education Minister and Deputy CM Manish Sisodia announced to impose a weekend curfew in the national capital. According to the government's action plan, a Covid 19 Curfew on Saturdays and Sundays will be observed. According to the guidelines, the private offices will be allowed to operate with 50% capacity while government offices are allowed to operate in work from home mode.

Will IGNOU Exam be Postponed?

Since when the new restrictions have been announced by the Delhi Government to impose weekend curfew assumptions are being made that IGNOU's exam-related activities might differ further. According to the DDMA orders, on weekends all government offices to operate in work from home mode. While in its last order Delhi Government has already ordered to shut the educational institutions until further orders.

In such a scenario it is expected that the exams may not likely take place according to the schedule. However, the university has not taken a final decision on conducting or postponement of the December exams. According to its last notice related to the TEE December 2021, the university released a tentative date sheet. Hence the students are asked to keep a check on the official website ignou.ac.in for all exam-related announcements.

While being asked sources told see latest, holding online exams allowing students to take from home may be an option in front of authorities. Further, the examinations may be conducted at the increased number of centers following the strict COVID-19 guidelines and safety protocols. However, IGNOU has so far conducted pen-paper-based examinations for the theory assessment.

Every year lakhs of students participate in the IGNOU term-end exams. It conducts the exams at hundreds of examination centers in cities across the country. Last year, IGNOU postponed the TEE December 2020 exams which were later held between February 08 and March 13, 2021. More than 6 lakh students had registered for the December exams.  While no exams took place for the Intermediate year students.
