Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) on Thursday, January 06, 2022, postponed the TEE December 2021 Examinations till further orders. The decision is taken due to the infectious growth of the Omicron virus and inflicted weekend curfews in different parts of the country. According to the tentative date sheet, these examinations were supposed to start from January 20, 2022, onwards.

"Consequent upon the outburst and infectious growth of the new variant of coronavirus i.e. Omicron and the weekend curfews in various parts of the country, the December 2021 Term End Examinations of IGNOU, scheduled to be held from 20th January 2022 to 23rd February 2022 have been postponed till further notification," the official notice from the university reads.

Further, the notice says that the next schedule of term-end examinations will be published at least 15 days before the commencement of examinations on the official website of IGNOU i.e. ignou.ac.in.

Earlier, a report published on SeeLatest.com hinted at the postponement of IGNOU's public examinations of the December 2021 session. Taking reference from the ongoing COVID-19 situations and statistics from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India the report was presented.

Based on the educators, now the examinations are only expected to take place after the conditions become more feasible. When being asked about the possible exam dates, an educator said, "Amid ongoing conditions, these exams (Term-End Exams December 2021) may likely not take place before March 2022".

As when the examinations have been postponed, students are advised to keep checking the University's website for examination-related information and updated at frequent intervals.

Earlier on social media, a section of students launched an online campaign and shared their concerns about holding the offline exams amid the rising third wave of the COVID-19 across the country.
