On Thursday, the CBSE board announced in Supreme Court the assessment formula for the preparation of Class 12th score this year. The board has decided to give a 30 percent weightage to class 10th and 11th marks each, followed by 40 percent weightage to Class 12th Pre-board/Unit test/ Practicals. The decision is receiving mixed responses from the students as many of the students calling the decision 'not good' whereas, on the other hand, several students have hailed the decision taken after the cancellation of board exams amid the COVID pandemic.
Supreme Court approved the formula CBSE board tabled during the hearing on pleas regarding Class 12 result evaluation criteria. After the decision, a section of students expressing concerns urges CBSE to reconsider the criteria for formulation of Class 12th marks, as these are going to play a vital role in one's life. Some of the students raise their concerns over the inclusion of class 10 and 11 marks with 30 and 40 percent weightage.
However, CBSE in its decision has clearly said that those students who are not satisfied with marks can appear for physical examinations. Board will start online registration to figure out the exact number of applicants.

"Our class 11 is supposed to be break for all of us who passed class 10 boards and had to appear for next class 12 exams. Even class 12 pre boards no teachers gives us marks that we posses they are too strict. Hence that's so unfair.," Navdeep Kahlon, a CBSE student expressing dissatisfaction with the decision wrote.
Another class 12 student said, "11th marks aren't very fair to students. 1 they're not standardized as different schools have a different difficulty level of question papers and marking schemes 2 with the new subjects altogether, it's difficult for most kids to score well."

Earlier in the day, CBSE told the Supreme Court that the Class XII results will be decided on the basis of performance in Class 10 (30% weightage), Class 11 (30% weightage) & Class 12 (40% weightage). For class X & XI, marks in the best of 3 from 5 papers in term exams will be considered. For Class XII, marks obtained in unit, term & practicals will be taken into account
