Uttar Pradesh's Chief Minister and one of the most popular leaders in the country Yogi Adityanath turns 48 today. On the occasion of his 48th birthday, social media is flooded with wishes and messages. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also sent birthday wishes to UP CM through Twitter.
"Birthday greetings to UP’s dynamic and industrious CM, Shri Yogi Adityanath Ji. Under his leadership, the state is scaling new heights of progress across all sectors. There is a marked improvement in the lives of citizens. May Almighty bless him with long and healthy life," wrote Modi.
Yogi Adityanath was born on 5th June 1972 as Ajay Mohan Bisht to forest ranger Anand Singh Bisht. He is a Monk and Hindu nationalist. The right-wing populist Hindutva firebrand Yogi Adityanath is the Mahant (Head Priest) of the Gorakhnath Math and founder of extremist organisation Hindu Yuva Vahini.
Yogi Adityanath fought his first election of Parliament in 1998 from Gorakhpur and was elected the youngest member of 12th Lok Sabha. Since then he never lost any election from Gorakhpur seat and has been elected for five consecutive terms - 1998, 1999, 2004, 2009, and 2014. In 2017, he was appointed as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and serving in the state after taking oath as CM on 19th March 2017.
In 1993 he left his family to became a disciple of the high priest of the Mahant Adityanath of Gorakhpur Math. He was just 21 when he became a priest in Gorakhpur and was promoted to Mahant of Gorakhpur Math in 2014 after the death of Mahant Adityanath. Under his leadership, Uttara Pradesh witnessed grand Kumbh 2019 in Prayagraj which received praises across the world.
