The first look of the Thambi movie  along with its Telugu version Donga was released on 15 November 2019. The Tamil theatrical rights were acquired by Sakthi Film Factory. Telugu version of the Thambi movie Theatrical rights of 'Donga' were acquired by 'Harshitha Movies' Ravuri V. Srinivas.

Thambi Movie Box Office Collection

Movie audio launch was held at Sathyam Cinemas, Chennai on 30 November 2019 to which Suriya attended as chief guest. A pre-release event was held at Park Hyatt, Hyderabad on 16 December 2019 promoting the Telugu version. Actor Karthi has just delivered a superhit movie at the box office with his Diwali release Kaithi directed by Managaram Director Lokesh Kanagaraj, and the movie grossed more than 100 crores.
